And Hummingbirds May Come

I want to meet you with softness
so we may feel warm tenderness
radiant in each other’s eyes, 
dissolving bitter fear
into sweet nectar.
So we may remember
how to be as generous
with each other
as Earth is with us,
and hummingbirds
may come to feed
on the open flowers
our hearts have become.
